Principal Cornet - Lynsey Mcilwraith
Lynsey joined Shotts band in 1997. She has held the principal cornet chair since 2002. Her favourite banding memory is the Scottish Championships in 2005 when the band triumphed with 'Tam O' Shanter's Ride' - winning off a number 1 draw. Lynsey is also proud to boast of many individual playing awards- from best cornet at the Borders Contest 2016 and 15, best soloist 2014 and best instrumentalist at the Carnegie Contest 2015. Lynsey is the current President of Shotts Band.
Assistant Principal Cornet- John Gonnella
Johnny joined Shotts band in 1962 and currently holds the 'bumper-up' chair. His favourite piece of all time is Ben Venuto Cellini and his least favourite is Poem. John's favourite banding memories include playing with the band in Blackpool and London for the first time aged only 11. His first ever contest was the Miners Gala in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh. John is the current Vice President of Shotts Band.
Solo Cornet - Kat Adams
Shotts welcomed Kat to the band towards the end of 2016. Originally from Leicester now living in Lanarkshire, Kat joined the Shotts team after a short break from brass banding and we are delighted to have her on board. Kat has previously performed with Kingdom Brass and the Bathgate Band as well as various Championship bands south of the Border. Welcome aboard Kat!
