Flugel Horn - Joe Hughes
Joe is somewhat the 'comeback kid' of Shotts band, having made various appearances in the last 20 or so years but then settling permanently in 2008. He initially returned to the band on front row cornet but more recently took the flugel chair. His favourite piece is anything with a Flugel solo in and his least favourite is a toss up between '500 Miles' and 'McArthur Park'.
Solo Horn - Ruth Young
Ruth joined Shotts in the mid 2000's. Married to Johnny in 2015, Ruth works as a music teacher for West Lothian Council. Prior to joining Shotts, Ruth was a member of Fauldhouse Miners Brass Band under the tuition of Tom Martin and in more recent years Ruth also competed in the Championship section as solo horn at the Lochgelly Band before making her permanent return to Shotts.
1st Horn - Nicola Mckeown
Initially a member of Fauldhouse Miners Brass Band, Nicola joined Shotts on the flugel seat initially then spent a number of years on repiano cornet before joining the horn team more recently. Married to Colin and Mum to Elyse, Nicola has been a member of Shotts band for almost 20 years and held the flugel chair when the band won the Scottish Championships in 2005 and in 2002.
