Fife Brass Band Festival 2025

On Saturday the 26th of April, the band made their way to Lochgelly to take part in the Fife Brass Band Festival to compete alongside 9 other brass bands.

The band's program had an energetic start with 'Windows of the World: Amazonia' by Peter Graham, followed by 'Be My Love' which was a solo featuring the very talented William Brown on euphonium. We then carried on with 'My Sister Kate', a cheerful piece which replicates the sound of a gramophone as it encounters a few technical difficulties. We were very fortunate to be able to have a gramophone on stage, wheeled on by our percussionist Frankie who then went on to play his part on his very special tie drawing some laughs from the audience. That's right - his tie!

In a change of mood, the band then performed 'Glow' from Disney's World of Colour, with its gentle and haunting feel, before concluding with 'Hymns of Praise' by Goff Richards.

While the band were unable to make it into the top 3, we were very pleased to receive the prize for best 2nd Section Band and some positive feedback from the three adjudicators. We all really enjoyed our day and are looking forward to taking part next year.
